Kelly’s Crane Hire Pty Ltd is a crane hire and transportation company based in North Queensland which was started by Gavin and Alice Kelly at the beginning of 2003.

Kelly’s Crane Hire is a member of CICA (Crane Industry Council of Australia) and supports pro-active safe working environments. Gavin is currently serving as a committee member on the Crane Industry Council of Australia Queensland Branch. All cranes comply with Qld Workplace Health and Safety inspection requirements as well as the CICA initiative of the “Green Sticker” inspection which is nation-wide. The fleet and equipment are maintained according to manufacturer’s specifications. The cranes and all lifting equipment are independently inspected annually.

Our company has been involved to some extent on all major building projects in the Port Douglas and Mossman areas over the last twelve years, whether it is to supply mobile crane hire or to erect tower cranes.

Gavin has over 25 years experience in the industry and has worked on sites as diverse as Rio Tinto Alcan Weipa, BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance and MIM, now Xstrata, and he has worked with minerals such as bauxite, coal, wolfram, gold and tin. Our company has been operating since 2003 and promote a pro-active safety culture.

In 2010 our company won a prestigious CICA national award for Crane Lift of the Year for a crane up to 130 tonnes at the Crane Industry Conference in Perth. The lift that won the award was for using the cranes in an innovative manner.

In 2013 we purchased a prime mover and extendable drop deck trailer to provide our customers an extension to our cranage service. We also have a flat top truck with an 8 tonne carrying capacity.

Recently we have added a 4 tonne JLG telehandler with 13 metre boom to our fleet.

Another branch of our business is to supply or hire lifting equipment and to perform inspections on lifting gear.

Our phones will be answered 24/7 for call-outs. Customers who use us around the clock are Mossman Mill – Mackay Sugar, Qube, Barron River Towing and Douglas Shire Council.

Our company has remained viable at a time when the construction industry has seen some challenging times and we look forward to continued growth into the future.
